Name: Gulzhan Kussainova
Course title: MA Translation Studies
Country: Kokshetau, Kazakhstan
Year of graduation: 2017

I really enjoyed the MA program in Translation Studies at Cardiff University. The School of Modern Languages offers students a wide range of optional modules, where I had an opportunity to practise my skills in technical, scientific, business and medical translation.

I have learnt so much from the lecturers' constructive input and their guidance throughout each lesson of each course. We even had practical lessons on how to run one’s own translation business. My classmates, who came from different corners of the world, also contributed to my development as a professional translator.

Being a student representative, I noticed how students’ input is highly valued by the staff and everyone’s ideas and opinions are respected and encouraged. The course exceeded my expectations in so many ways.
