Entry requirements for Uganda

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we want to ensure the welfare of our staff and students. Our staff won't be able to attend international exhibitions or events at this time but you can still get in touch.

Our entry requirements will vary depending on your level of study, the course you are interested in and your English language proficiency.

Undergraduate courses

You will be required to hold international A-levels or the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (A-level) with strong grades to qualify for our undergraduate programmes.

We will also consider students with the International Baccalaureate or a Foundation programme from a reputable institution for entry on to undergraduate courses.

I did my master's here and that’s how I was inspired to do my PhD at Cardiff. It’s a great place and I feel that I am part of this family.

Postgraduate taught courses

You will be required to have an undergraduate degree in a related field, with strong grades. The majority of Schools will require a minimum of an Upper Second (2.1) grade at undergraduate level, although there are some exceptions.

Work experience can also contribute towards gaining a placement in many subjects as well.

Postgraduate research courses

There are a number of possible entry routes to our postgraduate research courses. We will consider applicants who have successfully completed a Masters from a recognised Ugandan institution.

In some cases, we will consider applicants who only have a Bachelor's degree (minimum Second Class, Higher Division), although applicants may be required to complete a Master's course at Cardiff University prior to embarking upon PhD studies.

English language

You will need to have a relevant English language qualification to satisfy the English language requirements for your course. If you are unsure of your qualifications or entry requirements, please contact us.
