Yuan is a Lecturer in Operations Management at Cardiff Business School. She is passionate in empirical research in the broad areas of supply chain and operations management. Her doctoral research project “Workload control: success in practice” led to significant increases in successful bids and reductions in lead times for a small precision engineering company in the North West England, with a knock on effect through their supply chain that includes large aerospace companies like Rolls-Royce. Yuan has recently been interested in patient flow/waiting times in emergency departments and the extended operational issues along the urgent and emergency care supply chain. An ESRC impact research project has been conducted in collaboration with University of Groningen (Netherlands), University of Southampton, and the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
