Dr Woon Sau Leung, CFA, joined Cardiff University as a Lecturer in Finance at the Cardiff Business School in November 2013. He received his Integrated BBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2008) and MSc (2010) and PhD (2014) degrees from Cardiff Business School in the UK. His main research interests include banking and financial institutions, corporate finance, empirical asset pricing, corporate innovation, corporate social responsibility, mutual funds and financial regulations. 

His researches have been published in international peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Corporate Finance (ABS 4) and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money (ABS 3). He has a working paper investigating whether and how stakeholder orientation affects bank risk, performance and financial stability using a quasi-natural experimental design. This paper has been awarded the Best Paper in Financial Markets and Institutions in the 2016 Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Meeting. In addition, he has a few working papers studying the impact of board gender diversity on corporate decision making and outcomes. He also works on corporate innovation and the economic implications of intangible capital and corporate sustainability.
His work has been presented in major finance conferences such as the 2016 European Finance Association (EFA) Annual Meeting, the 2016 FMA Annual Meeting, the 2016 FMA European Conference, the 2016 Midwest Finance Association (MFA) Annual Meeting, the 2016 Annual Conference for the Multinational Finance Society (MFS), the 2015 Eastern Finance Association Annual Meeting, the 2016 European Financial Management Association (EFMA) Annual Meeting, the Principles for Responsible Investment in Person Conference, etc. He is also a member of the Cardiff Empirical Finance Group, the Cardiff Corporate Governance Group and the Centre for China Business Research.
