Ezgi received her PhD from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and joined Cardiff Business School in 2014. Her primary fields of scholarship and teaching are labour economics, microeconometrics, and economic demography. The focus of some of her recent research is the labour supply behaviour of married women and men, with emphasis on the role of assortative mating, household interactions, and fertility decisions. She is also working on the causes and characteristics of gender inequalities in wages and employment rates, in various European countries. She has also carried out research on the identification of peer effects on the co-residence decision of young adults with their parents, a decision that is often associated to fertility, mobility and future labour market outcomes.
