Andrew's is the Deputy Head of Section (Learning and Teaching) for the Logistics and Operations Management section. His research interests particularly lie in how transport can be more effectively integrated within supply chains, through process, people and technology based approaches.

This has often involved translating manufacturing orientated frameworks into a logistics operating environment. In doing so, research has been carried out with leading companies in the FMCG, steel, logistics, healthcare and IT industries, both in the UK and internationally. In particular, he has been involved in a number of initiatives in South Africa.

He is the principal investigator on the Engaged Manufacturing project, which is investigating additive manufacturing supply chains and the extent to which customers are willing to engage in the customisation of products.

Andrew is a member of the editorial board for the International Journal of Logistics Management, and a member of the organisation committee of the International Symposium on Logistics. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and is Chair of the Cymru-Wales committee and the Nations and Regions Coordination Committee. Through the CILT, Andrew has provided input into policy development by the UK and Welsh Government
