I am a Research Fellow at the Centre for Trials Research (CTR) focusing on developing, implementing and evaluating healthcare improvement initiatives. My main area of interest is in impact - ensuring evidence is used to develop context-appropriate solutions that can be embedded in practice. I am the deputy lead of the qualitative research group in CTR. I am currently on secondment at the Wales Centre for Public Policy, to learn more about the role of evidence in policy development and implementation.

For the last 7 years I have been study manager of large multi-site healthcare improvement studies, comissioned by the National Institute of Health research (PUMA) and Royal College of Nursing Foundation (Pro-Judge). PUMA - Paediatric Early Warning System - Utilisation and Mortality Avoidance developed, implemented and evaluated an innovative approach to improving detection of deterioraton in children in UK hospitals. Pro-Judge is analysing the use of professional judgement in nurse staffing decisions. Prior to joining the Centre for Trials Research (CTR), I was involved in a large-scale shared decision making implementation programme, funded by the Health Foundation 'MAGIC - Making Good Decisions in Collaboration with Patients'. All projects have involved woeking at the interface between academia and practitioners to translate research findings into practice.
My work at the Wales Centre for Public Policy involves supporting the development and delivery of projects with a focus on health and social care and governance and implementation.
