My principal area of research has been in the Enlightenment and its critics. I have written two single-authored monographs on this subject, as well as several scholarly journal articles and chapters in edited books. I am currently working on a new project called 'Politics and the Search for Human Nature'. I also have interests in French political thought and scepticism in political philosophy.
