A Lecturer at Cardiff University. He has nearly 12 years of experience in DC transmission/distribution, HV and MV power electronic converters, power system operation, and 4 years of experience in domestic solar PV inverters, EV battery chargers, and wide-bandgap semiconductors.

He has acted as principal or co-investigator in School, Innovate UK, Industry, and Welsh European Funding Office funded projects related to the development of gate drivers, Gallium-Nitride based power converters, battery asset management system, and hybrid-electric propulsion system for regional aircraft.

He has (co-)authored over 30 papers.

He is the Vice-Chair of IEEE PELS UK&I Chapter. 

He is a visiting Research Fellow at Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult. 

His current research interests include active gate drivers, power electronic devices, wide-bandgap semiconductors, control and protection of HVDC and MVDC, and electric propulsion system for more electric aircraft.

Sheng Wang received the B.Eng. degrees from Cardiff University, Cardiff, U.K., and North China Electric Power University, Beijing, China, in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree from Cardiff University, in 2016. He was a Research Assistant during 2013–2014, a Research Associate from 2016 to 2018, and a KTP Associate from 2018 to 2020 with Cardiff University. Since 2020, he has been a Lecturer with the School of Engineering, Cardiff University.
