Ali joined the Community Gateway team in October 2015. His work focuses on building a successful partnership between Cardiff University and the community of Grangetown and managing community events in the Grange Bowls Pavilion. His interests include: youth work, organising the community, sports, business and international development.

Ali has worked for Cardiff City Council since 2003, when he graduated in 2006 he began more substantial hours mentoring school children in schools in Cardiff to academically achieve, this project lasted for 6 years and was hailed as very successful.  In 2012, Ali moved to another role within the council working closely with Careers Wales to support 16-18yr olds NEETS in to education, employment and training.  Ali has a passion for sports and is often involved in brokering opportunities between National Governing Bodies and diverse communities to ensure that opportunities and services are inclusive and representative of the communities.  On top of all of this until recently Ali use to work in the evenings as a Youth Worker and would think of imaginative way to engage young people who came to The Buzz, Grangetown Boys & Girls Club and Butetown Pavilion often getting them involved in Community Organising with Citizens UK where we became famous for our Nandos Chicken Run Action.

Ali holds a BA Hons in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management from the University of South Wales and an Msc. in Management in Youth and Community Professions from Cardiff Metropolitan University and holds a PTLLS Qualification from the WEA.
