Trosolwyg
Martin has recently completed a PhD at Swansea University, holds an MA with Distinction from the University of Hull, and a BScEcon from Aberystwyth. Prior to joining Cardiff, he taught at Swansea’s department of Political and Cultural Studies.
Martin’s research examines international drug control responses to the challenges posed by illegal drug markets on the 'darknet'. His research is located in International Relations theory, specifically on the lifecycles of international prohibition regimes and intersects with considerations of global governance, international regimes (formation, performance, and survival) and international institutions. Thematically, Martin is interested in drug policy, transnational security and enforcement, crypto-currencies, cyber security, and internet anonymity.
Alongside teaching at Cardiff, Martin is also Crypto-Drug Market research lead at the Global Drug Policy Observatory. In this capacity, he engages with civil society groups, and has presented research to the UK Home Office, and to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
