I joined the School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University as a Lecturer in August 2019. I currently teach on two undergraduate law modules, Evidence and Miscarriages of Justice. Alongside this, I also assist with the Cardiff Law School innocence project in overseeing student teams and supervising casework.
Prior to this, I completed my Law LLB at Cardiff University in 2011. Following this, I was awarded a studentship with the Economic and Social Research Council on the Socio-Legal pathway of the 1 + 3 programme. From 2011 to 2012, I completed an MSc in Social Science Research Methods at Cardiff University. I then went on to complete my PhD in the School of Law at Cardiff University between 2012 and 2017, which was the first empirical research to look at the development and operation of innocence projects in the UK.
Between 2017 and 2019, I was employed as a Lecturer at Swansea University where I taught Criminal Law, Evidence Law and assisted in overseeing student teams on the extracurricular miscarriage of justice project.
In September 2019 I was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My research interests are broadly around criminal justice, with a particular focus on miscarriages of justice, the criminal appeals process and criminal procedure in England and Wales.
