I joined the School of Computer Science and Informatics in 2011, where I am currently a senior lecturer. Previously I was a PhD student at Ghent university from 2004 to 2008 and a postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders from 2008 to 2011. My research, in the area of Artificial Intelligence, addresses the problem of symbolic reasoning about imperfect knowledge, with the long-term aim of developing logics for commonsense reasoning that are suitable for applications such as intelligent web search. This involves dealing with knowledge that is vague, uncertain or inconsistent in an intuitive way, and requires combining ideas from knowledge representation and reasoning with ideas from information retrieval and machine learning.
