Clara-Larissa Lorenz is a certified Passive House designer with a master's degree in BIM in design, construction and operations and a double bachelor's degree in architecture and interior architecture. Her interests and main focuses are daylight and energy performance of buildings, and computational methods in architecture - particularly parametric and evolutionary processes, machine learning, as well as design decision support systems that can help architects and designers move towards performance driven and environmentally sustainable design solutions. Her work and research is geared towards design exploration and building optimisation, with emphasis on the validity and application of annual climate-based daylight metrics and balancing considerations for daylight availability, occupant comfort and well being. Her PhD research investigates the possibilities of using artificial neural networks to replace time-consuming simulations, thereby moving building performance evaluations towards real-time feedback and facilitating design exploration.
