Irini Barbero holds a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering from the School of Architectural Engineering of Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) in Greece. During her studies she completed a research thesis/project entitled: “Poetic Space”, in which she explored the concept of poetry in architecture. In October 2017 she started her PhD studies at the Welsh School of Architecture of Cardiff University.
Towards restorative spaces: the function of the poetic experience in the 21st century
This research aims to explore the relationship between poetic architecture and our emotional wellbeing and mental health. The main objective of the study is to determine how poetic values can be transmuted into meaningful design, in order to propose an architecture that aspires to have an inspiring, healing and transformative effect in modern societies.
