Diddordebau ymchwil

I am interested in how large earthquakes affect landscapes. Large earthquakes can cause a number of long lasting hazards which seriously hamper recovery efforts following a disaster. I am currently studying the continuing impact of the 2008 7.9Mw earthquake in Wenchuan China. The earthquake caused a huge amount of landslides in the area which we now believe contribute to the formation of highly damaging debris flows. By studying this area I hope to gain some insight into the initiation of debris flows and contribute to the recovery of areas following large mass movement events.
