Assessing the success of chloride extraction treatments for archaeological cast iron from marine contexts
This project will examine the oxygen consumption of iron cannonballs from The Mary Rose to determine their rate of corrosion respective to relative humidity and treatment methods. The goal of this project is to better understand the efficiency of treatment methods currently in place in the conservation community, and to advise museums on best display parameters of cast iron objects from maritime contexts.
