Trosolwyg

I am a PhD student in the School of Psychology. My research interests centre on music and socio-emotional development. Specifically, I’m interested in the use of music as an intervention tool for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

I am also interested in mental health, both in neurotypical and neurodivergent populations, and have engaged in research focused on autistic students’ experiences of mental health and mental health supports while at university.

My PhD will focus on the development of musical emotion understanding in neurotypical and neurodivergent populations. Specifically, links between musical emotions and other forms of emotion expression – such as in faces and voice - will be explored, as well as music’s ability to modulate perceptual and responsive emotion processes. The ultimate goal is to offer a targeted and flexible music-based intervention for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, measuring qualitative and quantitative change in socio-emotional/behavioural outcomes and individual wellbeing.
