I am a researcher whose work broadly focuses on communication and public engagement with climate change. As part of the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformation (CAST), I am undertaking PhD research focusing on understanding university research culture and practices in the context of the climate emergency. As part of this, I have published research analysing UK universities' climate emergency declarations (see publications tab) and am conducting a UK-wide climate change survey of academics. I am also part of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.
In addition to my PhD, I am working on a CAST-funded project to create a resource for the live music industry: 'Positively influencing the travel choices of live music audiences'. I have also recently published a report: Can cultural events catalyse engagement with climate change? A Season for Change case study.
During my PhD, I worked as a Research Assistant at Climate Outreach where my work included contributing to Nature visuals: diversity in images of England’s green and natural spaces and Britain Talks COP26: New insights on what the UK public want from the UN climate summit. Prior to climate change research, I worked in the creative industry as a photographer and retoucher, then in communications.

My research interests are around climate change as a social issue. I have experience mainly in qualitative research methods and using them to understand values, framing and language around climate change. I previously researched climate change communication and engagement with the older generation in England as part of my MA in Climate Change: History, Culture, Society.

The role of research culture, practice and choices in pursuit of sustainability and climate change mitigation
My PhD in the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST) focuses on understanding university and academic research culture and practices in the context of the climate emergency, for which I have undertaken documentary analysis, participant observation and interviews.
Part of this research about UK universities' climate emergency declarations has been published in Frontiers in Sustainability (see Publications tab).
