I am a PhD student in ENCAP currently working on CorCenCC project, a community driven project for creating linguistic resources for contemporary Welsh language. I am a computer scientist by training and a linguist by interest. I graduated with a Masters degree in Computational Linguistics from International Institute of Information Technology, India (IIIT-H) in 2016. Currently I am interested in exploring how to analyse language as a functional, usage-based system and apply the ideas for Language Technology.
MS in Computational Linguistics (2016) from IIIT-H, Hyderabad, India
B.Tech in Computer Science (2010) from Amrita University, Coimbatore, India
Programmer Analyst (2010-2013), Cognizant Technology Solutions, Coimbatore, India
Research Assistant (2013 - 2016), Language Technology Research Centre, IIIT-H, Hyderabad, India
I am interested in the intersection of Computational and Cognitive Linguistics. Currently I am working on developing a grammar induction system for Welsh. My previous research work was on Construction Grammar based parsing framework for Dravidian languages. I am trying to extend the theoretical outlook adopted in my earlier work to my new work.
Unsupervised parser for Welsh with insights from Construction Grammar
This PhD researches about how the grammatical structure of sentence can be induced from plain text without any explicit syntactic annotation. The research draws insights from usage-based theoretical frameworks such as Construction grammar, Cognitive grammar and aims to learn grammar bottom-up based on usage patterns.
