The aim of this course is to explore and discuss the life in Italian Renaissance Courts.
We will be focusing on the artistic patronage granted by the great courts of Mantua, Naples, Milan, Ferrara, Urbino and Florence, and the minor courts such as Rimini, ruled by the Malatesta, and Bracciano ruled by the Orsini.
We will see how the princes and masters who ruled these cities commissioned works to the greatest artists of Italian Renaissance.
You will have the opportunity to read short historical texts, describe paintings and sculptures, hear and read about the daily-life at court, appreciate short poems and musical texts (such as the popular Frottolas and the Madrigals), and engage in discussions and storytelling.
The course will be taught in Italian with a CLIL approach (Content Language Integrated Learning). You can sign up for this course if you have a level B1 (Higher Intermediate Italian Level D) or above.
Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you have advanced language skills (5 + years of part-time study or above) and have the ability to hold a general conversation in Italian. The course will be taught through the medium of Italian.
