Jan-Philip Meyer, PhD student at our Schools of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicine, delivered a talk at the 15th Tetrahedron Symposium about the main results of his PhD.

In front of an audience of nearly 700 – most of them well-respected scientists – he discussed his research on the synthesis of novel 18F-labelled radiotracer molecules for applications in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging.

It's an area Jan-Philip describes as "definitely a specialised field, but very exciting, combining all kinds of different disciplines such as Chemistry, Biology and Physics".

"Altogether, I really benefitted from attending this conference," he said. "I was able to experience an exchange of knowledge at a very high international standard, and I realised, to quote Prof. Bradner of Harvard Medical School, 'that presenting data is almost as important as generating them'."

The Tetrahedron Symposia are yearly international meetings where leaders in the scientific field come together to report on advances in organic, bioorganic and medicinal chemistry.
