Sully Primary School celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Dog

Students learn Chinese as part of Sully Primary School's China Week 2018
From 5-9th February, Sully Primary school celebrated Chinese New Year with a week of traditional cultural activities. This is the fifth year that Sully have celebrated the New Year a special China Week, and this year pupils from the whole school, from nursery and reception all the way through to Year 6, were given the chance to experience Chinese culture. Nursery and reception pupils took part in morning exercise, while those in years 1 to 6 experienced a range of activities such as Chinese cooking, story- telling, paper cutting, calligraphy and fan dancing.

Teacher Melissa Parry said, "the pupils always really enjoy China week, and although they have regular Mandarin lessons, the China week allows all pupils to experience Chinese culture and learn new skills".

Sully Primary school has worked with the Confucius Institute for the last four years and now all pupils in the school receive regular, timetabled Mandarin sessions with the help of a Hanban tutor who visits the school each week.
