We offer a range of scholarships to our prospective postgraduate research students.

AHRC PhD Studentships

Cardiff University is part of the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (SWW DTP) which awards AHRC doctoral studentships. The partnership is a collaboration of eight leading research universities and partners from the creative economy, working together to develop the arts and humanities researchers for the future. The SWW DTP offer doctoral studentships annually, with applications usually closing at the end of January (for an October start). More information on the studentships can be found on the SWW DTP’s website.

School of Music PhD studentships

We regularly make small doctoral studentships awards in the form of tuition fee discounts to PhD applicants. Eligible applicants should have, or expect to achieve, either a Masters degree with distinction or merit from a UK university or an equivalent qualification from outside the UK, or have suitable professional experience.
