We are an examination centre for the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Public Service Interpreting.

Both internal and external candidates can sit the DPSI examination at Cardiff University provided the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) have enough teams of assessors available for their language. Otherwise, candidates have to be examined in London for the oral part.

The written units can always be taken at Cardiff University.

Dates, fees and registration

The exam can be taken in November (Law Pathway only) or June (all Pathways), with the exact dates and fees advertised on the Chartered Institute of Linguists web site. Written exams can always be taken at Cardiff University.

In addition to the examination fee charged by the Chartered Institute of Linguists, there is a Centre fee of £165 (£55 for each of three tasks).

Please note that candidates must register as an Institute of Linguists IoLET affiliate member in order to register for this exam. IoLET affiliate membership offers additional study resources, along with other benefits.
