Starting at the neighbourhood scale, we will look at current and proposed small-scale schemes with the potential to change communities, before moving on to district level initiatives that are re-orientating Cardiff’s economic centre, and finally settling at the city scale to unpack the implications of large housing and infrastructure projects. Throughout, contrasts between Cardiff and other cities will be noted and how the different proposals engage with wider social, technological, and economic trends.

Dr Brian Webb from Cardiff University"s School of Geography and Planning will share his insights followed by Q and A.

Brian has over 10 years of experience in planning practice and research and been involved in policy-focused research for a range of public, private, and non-profit organisations. He has undertaken research with colleagues on national planning policy and strategic planning, as well as housing, infrastructure, and neighbourhood deprivation. Prior to working at Cardiff University, He was a researcher for the Centre for Urban Policy Studies at the University of Manchester. He also previously worked in planning practice for the City of Toronto, Canada, and the provincial Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Canada.

This event is part of the Business School’s Breakfast Briefing series, a network that enables our business contacts to find out more about the latest research and key developments from our industrial partners.

We do hope you will be able to join us for a stimulating talk and networking over a croissant and coffee. This event is gratefully supported and sponsored by Bruton Knowles.
