We are committed to helping our students gain the most from their university experience, both academically and personally.
As well as enhancing academic studies and boosting career prospects, studying abroad allows our students to immerse themselves in a different culture and make new friends.
The opportunities below are available through the School, but there are also many other opportunities, including Erasmus+, organised through the University’s Global Opportunities service.
The MEng International programme is an enhanced version of the existing MEng programme available for each discipline.
It involves spending a semester abroad in the third year of the programme at one of the School’s partner institutions, studying modules which are equivalent to those which would normally be available at home.
These modules will be credited to your MEng degree to replace the home semester. This programme has been introduced to give students the opportunity to gain international experience which is becoming more and more valued by employers.
Year in Europe
This sandwich programme offered by the School is an enhancement of the standard MEng programme. It incorporates a year of attending a Higher Education establishment in France, Germany or Spain. The Year in Europe is undertaken after completing the first three years of study at Cardiff University, so the MEng programme will take five years to complete. Depending on which Year in Europe destination country you chose, training in that language will be undertaken as part of the degree.
