Modernising dental education

Mae'r cynnwys hwn ar gael yn Saesneg yn unig.

Our programme to modernise dental education aims to ensure we excel at how we train dentists and dental healthcare professionals.

The programme encompasses all aspects of our educational activities, including learning, teaching and assessments. It also includes clinical training within the School, the University Dental Hospital, community-based clinics and primary dental care education units.

We are also focussing on how best to use our resources and those of the NHS to enhance student experience and patient care.

Projects

Our projects are split into three areas:

Education

Our current education projects focus on assessment and feedback, and a review of the Dental Surgery Year 5 timetable.

Previous projects have involved a critical review of the Dental Surgery curriculum, timetable mapping, learning outcomes, assessment and feedback. We have also carried out DCP staff and student focus groups and reviews of School visits.

Clinical

Our current clinical projects focus on long term dental chair utilisation, management of the Erasmus+ programme and early clinical contact in Years 1 and 2.

Previous projects have involved dental chair utilisation mapping and pre-clinical laboratories utilisation mapping.

Resources and support

Our current resources and support projects focus on electronic assessment and feedback and the staff workload model.
