Addressing food poverty and encouraging healthy eating in the community.
I live in Grangetown and, as a single mother, I used a food co-op when my son was small in order to get fruit and vegetables at affordable prices. I feel passionately that a little education can make a huge difference in eating habits, and involving children is great for bonding and for their relationship with food from an early age.
With food prices rising and incomes falling in real terms, I love to see a project that helps families to improve their diets. (Grangetown Resident)
How can Cardiff University help?
Cardiff University professional and academic staff could collaborate on projects to educate local children in healthy eating. There has also been interest expressed in running cookery classes in the new kitchen at Grange Pavilion, this is something that will be explored with local primary schools when the pavilion is up and running in 2020.
Could your research, teaching or skills support this idea? We want your help to develop projects in Grangetown.
