Keeping the streets of Grangetown clean and litter free.
The residents of Grangetown wanted to make it an even better place to live, by keeping the streets clean and building pride in the area. They wanted to develop a campaign to #keepgrangetowntidy, working in partnership with local schools, community, faith groups and the Council.
They also wanted to educate local people about waste and develop regular local litter-picking groups.
In early 2015, Cardiff University volunteers joined forces with local community members, Grangetown Community Action and Keep Wales Tidy to support the #KeepGrangetownTidy campaign by cleaning streets along the Taff Embankment.
Keep Grangetown Tidy is a well established group that organises regular litter picks in the area. The group is open to all and always looking for new volunteers - for upcoming dates see the official group Twitter account.
We will be looking for local partners to develop a wide-scale research project across Grangetown to work with residents to explore the value of green spaces in the area.
We are also hoping to co-ordinate an application for funding from Welsh Government to join forces with local residents and groups to clean streets, establish community gardens and maintain green spaces.
