Raj Aggarwal is a Community Pharmacist and Managing Director of Aggarwal Group. Raj studied at the Welsh School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1972.
He was in senior management with Boots plc until 1983, managing large stores throughout the country and is a Board Member of National Pharmacy Association and Community Pharmacy Wales.
He is a Health Wales columnist for the Western Mail, an advisor on various Health and Pharmaceutical committees and a past member of the Ministerial Pharmacy Strategic Delivery Group. He received the UK Pharmacy Business Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2010 and in 2012 was honored with the Welsh Chemist Review special award for outstanding contribution to Pharmacy.
Raj has freely given of his time for philanthropic activity and is Chairman of Kidney Wales Foundation and is on the Board of the Wales Millennium Centre. He is also a Director and Board Member of Cardiff Business Club and Wales International Business Council and a Council member of the Russell Group, Cardiff University. He has been awarded the fellowship of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of South Wales.
Raj was appointed as the first Honorary Consul of India for Wales, by the President of India, in 2012 and is also the President of the Consular Association in Wales, which represents 30 Honorary Consuls. He is also the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan.
Raj was awarded an OBE in 2007 for services to pharmacy, the Asian community and charity.
