Stockland Street Party

Planning a creative street party on Stockland Street.

The idea

Stockland Street is a very multi-cultural street with people of all ages.

A street party would be a brilliant way of building bridges, bringing people together and encouraging community action.

An important part of the street party will be discovering what musical and other artistic talents there are on the street.

Progress

A Stockland Street resident, Pauline Down, worked with Student Volunteering Cardiff and Community Gateway to develop a schedule of events and meetings in order to work with other residents and initiate plans for the party. There was an initial meeting to plan the day and then the street part took place on Sunday 5 June 2017 and was a huge success with local residents and included food, drink and entertainment from the local choir. The party also raised £77 for Keep Grangetown Tidy which will be used to help with litter picks in the area.

Next steps

There are now plans to form a Stockland Street choir.
