Richard Powell

Richard's interests include fine art, sculpture, community engagement.

Richard studied and taught fine art and sculpture before coming to work at the Welsh School of Architecture.

Richards initial involvement in this project was due to the ‘lack of a decent cup of coffee in the neighborhood of Grangetown’ He joined ‘out of frustration.’

Richard became involved through the pavilion. Richard sits on the panel of the steering group and has worked extensively to make Grangetown an even better place to live. Richard has run Vertical Studio projects for the past three years with the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University, focusing on proposals to create a café within the pavilion through community consultations which have collected information on what people would like to see the Pavilion used for.

Richard became involved in Community Gateway through his involvement in the teaching at Cardiff University, which has enabled him to develop community-led ideas in conjunction with students and the university.
