Abstract

Los corpus lingüísticos ponen al alcance de lingüistas y docentes de lenguas una gran cantidad de datos de uso real. En la enseñanza de lenguas es posible utilizar los corpus como fuente de información con la que elaborar materiales didácticos, así como su uso directo para un aprendizaje basado en datos. De un corpus pueden obtenerse muestras de usos contextualizados de cualquier expresión, así como datos de frecuencia y, además, podemos observar combinaciones frecuentes de unos elementos con otros. Los corpus lematizados y anotados (como CORPES o CdE) facilitan búsquedas más abstractas en las que se tengan en cuenta categorías gramaticales y los corpus con anotación sintáctica y semántica permiten búsquedas más refinadas de patrones combinatorios.

Linguistic corpora provide linguists and language teachers with real use quantitative data. In language teaching, a corpus can be used as an information source to create didactic materials as well as a direct use of data-based learning. A corpus can provide samples of contextual usage of any expression as well as data frequency, thus allowing us to study frequent combinations of elements. Annotated corpora such as CORPES or CdE allow for more abstract searches to consider grammatical categories. Syntactic and semantic annotated corpora allow for more refined searches of combinations.

Biography

José María García-Miguel Gallego es catedrático de Lingüística General en la Universidad de Vigo. Se doctoró en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela en 1992 con la tesis “Aspectos de la estructura de la cláusula: Transitividad y complementación preposicional en español”.

Su investigación se ha centrado en el estudio de las relaciones gramaticales usando tanto una perspectiva intralingüística basada en corpus como una perspectiva tipológica prestando atención a los principios generales que sustentan las semejanzas y diferencias entre las lenguas. Tiene publicaciones sobre la estructura y el significado de las construcciones clausales, valencia verbal, funciones sintácticas y semánticas, clíticos pronominales, voz media, alternancias de diátesis, etc. En relación con estos temas dirigió́ una serie de proyectos de investigación que dieron lugar a la Base de datos de verbos, alternancias de diátesis y esquemas sintáctico-semánticos del español (ADESSE).

José María García-Miguel Gallego is Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Vigo. He received a doctorate from University of Santiago de Compostela in 1992 with the thesis:”Aspects of clausal structure: transitivity and prepositional complements in Spanish.”

His research focuses on the study of grammatical structures using both an intralinguistic perspective based on corpora, as well as a typological perspective taking into account general principles that underpin the differences and similarities among languages. He has publications on clausal constructs in both structure and meaning, verbal valency, syntactic and semantic functions, pronominal clitics, middle voice, alternating diathesis etc. With regards to these aspects, he led various research projects that resulted in the Data base of verbs, alternating diathesis and syntactic semantic frameworks of Spanish (ADESSE).
