Inflation and the Cost of Living Crisis: How we got here and where we are going?

Join Sarah Dickins, BBC Cymru Wales Economics Correspondent and Prof. Huw Dixon, Head of Economics at Cardiff Business School and Research Lead for economic measurement at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research to explore what is a crushing issue for many.

What are the causes behind the rapid increase in inflation and the cost of living in the last year and did we see it coming? What are the prospects for inflation in the coming months and how will things be affected by the war in Ukraine? These are questions which have become urgent in the minds of politicians, business people and households struggling with the rising cost of living. Sarah Dickins and Professor Huw Dixon will give an overview of how we got here and how the increase in the cost-of living is likely to affect us going into the future. Huw will also consider what the Governments in Cardiff and Westminster could possibly do to alleviate the urgent problems faced by households and businesses.

Subject to any alterations in restriction levels, we are excited to be planning to run our first hybrid Breakfast Briefing. When you register your space you will have the option to select to join us either in person (at the Executive Education Suite, Business School) or online via Zoom.
