The UK general election held in December 2019 saw the Labour Party lose ground in Wales in a way not seen for generations. Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party profited from Labour’s troubles. But who changed their vote compared to previous elections and why? And to what certain extent does the result signal a lasting change in the political landscape of Wales? The 2019 Wales Election Study team at Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre, led by Professor Richard Wyn Jones, conducted a large survey of constituents in Wales before and after the election and this is an opportunity to hear their analysis of the result and its significance.
