Now in its 21st year, the annual Innovation and Impact Awards celebrate the collaboration successes of our academics and businesses with a prestigious awards ceremony and dinner.
Sponsored by IP Group, Blake Morgan, Symbiosis IP and Cardiff Business School Executive Education, the 2018 Innovation and Impact Awards took place at the National Museum Cardiff.
It was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan, and Dr Ian Campbell (Executive Chair Innovate UK) who gave the keynote address. Dr Campbell also presented the People's Choice Award to TeloNostiX and School of Medicine for their development of a cancer diagnostic tool.
2018 marked the 20th Anniversary of the Innovation and Impact Awards and to recognise this achievement a special video was commissioned and shown on the evening:
Business Innovation Award
Microsemi and School of Engineering collaboration leads to a damage detection device for military body armour.
International Impact Award
Airbus and School of Computer Science and Informatics develop the Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security Analytics, the first of its kind in Europe, to tackle global cyber security.
Innovation in Healthcare Award
Welsh Government, Public Health Wales and Cancer Research UK and School of Social Sciences partnership, the School Health Research Network (SHRN), improves the health and wellbeing of young people in school settings.
Impact on Policy Award
Welsh Government and Cardiff Business School are working together on an innovative demand-led approach which bridges the policy gap between academics and government.
Medical Innovation Award

Sponsored by Blake Morgan, Symbiosis IP and IP Group, the 2017 Innovation and Impact Awards took place on 26 June 2017 in front of guests including Julie James AM, who gave the keynote speech. Julie also presented the People's Choice Award to the Chief Fire Officers Association and School of Psychology for their work on decision making in the emergency services which has gone on to receive further acclaim for all involved and been rolled out across the emergency services.
Sponsored by Blake Morgan, Symbiosis IP and IP Group, the 2016 Innovation and Impact Awards took place on 22 June 2016 in front of guests including Mark Wilson, Executive Vice President and Finance Director of Aston Martin Lagonda, who gave the keynote speech. Mark also presented the People's Choice Award, voted for the by the public, which went to Panalpina and Cardiff Business School for their lean inventories KTP project.
Sponsored by Geldards Law Firm and IP Group, the 2015 Innovation and Impact Awards took place in front of guests including Dr Andrew Goodall, Director General of NHS Wales, who presented the People's Choice Award to Professor Jean-Yves Maillard, Dr Guy Braverman, Harsha Siani and Dr Allen Hanouka at the Awards Ceremony.

Edwina Hart, Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, presented the" People's Choice Award" to Dr Neil Warren, Dr Dominic Griffiths and Dr Peter Bannister at the Awards Ceremony.
The 15th Cardiff University Innovation & Impact Awards were held on 21st May 2013 with the First Minister, the Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM VIP guest.
