Microsoft Access is a database creation and management tool, which allows you to input, search, store and extract large amounts of data quickly and easily.

About the course

Our Microsoft Access course runs over three days and is based on Microsoft Official Academic Course materials. It is designed for anyone who is new to using the Access application.

The course covers:

  • the basics of creating and using databases
  • constructing a database to hold your data in the most appropriate format for analysis
  • creating tables and establishing appropriate links between them
  • extracting relevant information from either a single table or from multiple related tables
  • formatting your results as a report
  • using screen forms to input data into a relational database
  • customising paper-based reports for clear output of information held in one or more tables
  • applying the training directly to your own database requirements.

These individual courses are aimed at experienced Access users looking to top-up their skills in specific areas.

Prerequisites

  • You should be familiar with Microsoft Windows and the use of a mouse and keyboard and ideally you will have already have used other Microsoft Office applications like Word or Excel.
  • It is also desirable to have a current need to create and use a database as you will learn more from this course if you are able to put into practice the skills learnt as you consider the design of your own database.

Cost

£340 (plus VAT) for non-profit making organisations eg other universities, charities, and government bodies, including Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

£415 (plus VAT) for commercial organisations.
