Jan Juillerat is currently Executive Director for People and Development at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
She holds a BA in English Literature and Linguistics from the University of Leeds, an MA in Human Resource Management from the University of the West of England and an MBA from the University of Bath.
Ms Juillerat began her career in 1990 as a Personnel Manager at Cleveland County Council. In 1995 she moved to Cleveland College of Art and Design to take up the role of Human Resources Manager before moving to the College of West Anglia as Head of Human Resources in 1998. In 2000 she took up the role of Consultant Advisor at the Association of Colleges before returning to the higher education sector as an HR Manager at the University of Bath in 2001. In 2003 she joined the Arts and Humanities Research Council as Head of Human Resources where she stayed until her move in 2005 to the BBSRC as Deputy Director of HR and Corporate Services. She assumed her current role as Executive Director in 2012.
Ms Juillerat is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and specialises in Organisational Development. She holds a graduate certificate as an OD Practitioner and is accredited as an Executive Coach. Ms Juillerat has also worked in corporate governance and developed governance models in the research sector as well as working in non-executive roles as a trustee and Vice Chair of an independent charity. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Ms Juillerat was appointed to serve on Cardiff University Council with effect from 1 August 2016.
