David Simpson is a former partner at KPMG and holds an MA in Economics and Law from the University of Cambridge.
Mr Simpson began his career at McKenna and Co., where he qualified as a solicitor in 1981. In 1983 he moved to Hill Samuel and Co. as Corporate Finance Executive. In 1984 he joined Ferris, Baker Watts where he subsequently became Head of Corporate Finance. In 1990 he was appointed Director of Barclays de Zoete Wedd.
He joined KPMG in 1997, holding various roles, culminating in the position of Global Head of Mergers and Acquisitions in 2009. He stood down from KPMG in 2013.
Mr Simpson is currently:
- Chairman of Ecofin Global Utilities and Infrastructure Trust plc
- a Director of the British Geological Survey
- a Director of ITC Limited (a major listed company in India)
He has been a Governor of Ernest Bevin School and a Trustee of the charity Cranstoun, which provides quality and innovative drug and alcohol treatment services in England.
Mr Simpson was appointed to Council on 2 December 2013. He is a member of the Policy and Resources Committee and is Chair of the Investment and Banking Sub-Committee.
