President's PhD Scholarships: (Re)-Constructing Multiculturalism
The School of Welsh invites applications for President's Research Scholarships on the theme of (Re)-Constructing Multiculturalism funded by Cardiff University. There will be two full studentships (covering fees and stipend) available.
We are looking for high-calibre, independent thinking and innovative graduates with cross-disciplinary interests and ambitions.
The School of Welsh has been highly successful in this competition in the past, and scholarships have been awarded for research into 'The "Foreign" and Cultural Difference in the Post-industrial Fiction of South Wales' and 'Everyday Welshness in Migrant Communities: a Geographic Comparison'. Other aspects to be examined could be the interactions between minority languages, multilingualism and cultural identity; the display and performance of religion, ethnic and cultural identities; and minorities in Wales. Students may conduct and write their research in either Welsh or English.
If this research area is of interest to you, contact Ceren Roberts robertsC1@cardiff.ac.uk / 02920 875659 as soon as possible to discuss the application process. More information about the scholarships is also available here.
The closing date for declarations of interest is 1 March 2013.
