Launching the Welsh Sabbatical Scheme

06/12/2012

On Thursday 4 December 2012 the School of Welsh held the Welsh Language Sabbatical Scheme’s annual awards ceremony in Aberdare Hall, Corbett Road, with the journalist and broadcaster Siân Lloyd hosting the evening. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate success by distributing certificates to those who completed our courses in 2011-12.

The Welsh language Sabbatical Scheme is a course designed for teachers, lecturers and classroom assistants who want to raise the standard of their Welsh and gain confidence in using the language. Lowri Davies, the Scheme’s coordinator at Cardiff said “It was wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate the practitioners achievements and to hear so many of them using the Welsh language confidently.”

The School delivers Foundation-level and Entry-level courses in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and Higher-level courses in Cardiff and the south east region.

The provision is free – the Welsh Government pays for supply cover as well as all travel and accommodation costs.
