Colgate students meet Cabinet ministers at the Senedd

Each year, during the spring semester, students from Colgate University, in Madison County, New York, USA come to Cardiff University as part of a Study Abroad Scheme. In addition to their own degree subjects at Colgate, students are given a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study modules at the School of Welsh which focus on the language and culture of Wales.

On the 23rd of March, as part of the Wales and the Welsh Language module, this year’s group were taken on a field trip to the Senedd in Cardiff Bay. There they had a unique opportunity to meet three of the Welsh Assembly Government’s most prominent cabinet members – Alun Ffred Jones (the Minister for Heritage), Leighton Andrews (the Minister for Education) and the First Minister Carwyn Jones. The students spent time quizzing the ministers about the Senedd, their roles within the Government, and the politics of Wales in general.
