‘Speed Dating' at Cardiff High School
To mark St Dwynwen’s Day (patron saint of Welsh lovers) on 25 January the School of Welsh was invited to take part in a ‘Speed Dating’ event held by Cardiff High School. Individuals from various companies and organisations gathered together to address Year 11 pupils about the importance of the Welsh language in their work and their social lives, giving them the opportunity to receive information at first hand before choosing their A Level subjects.
Lois Barrar, our publicity officer and Hanna Hopwood, a postgraduate student went on behalf of the School of Welsh, and talked to over 100 pupils.
The day was a great success with a number of students expressing an interest in the language and considering following Welsh as an A Level subject.
