The School of Welsh is delighted to invite applications for the 2012 PhD Scholarships in Celtic Studies, funded by the AHRC. The scholarships will provide financial support in order to study full-time (3 years) or part-time (5 years). Usually applicants will have a master’s degree or be studying for a master’s degree.
With regards to selecting a research project, the possibilities are vast. Celtic Studies can encompass any aspect of Welsh language and literature and the other Celtic Languages, and the School of Welsh can provide specialist guidance on subjects such as:
- medieval and modern literature,
- literary criticism,
- multiculturalism, gender and identity
- literary and cultural translation
- creative writing
- second language acquisition
- sociology of the Welsh language and the Irish language
- language policy and planning
