Former student presents new service for the children of Wales
Anni Llŷn Parri, a former student at the School of Welsh, is one of the presenters of the new programme ‘Stwnsh’ on S4C’s ‘Planed Plant’. Anni hails from Pen Llŷn originally and graduated from Cardiff with a degree in Welsh in 2009 before studying for an MA at the School, following the Creative Writing route.
‘Stwnsh’ is a new daily service for children aged 7 to 13, and Anni is one of the programme’s six new presenters. Before the programme began, Anni and her fellow presenters toured schools around Wales for three weeks and met with children in order to raise the profile of the programme. ‘Stwnsh’ can now be seen live every day on S4C.
Anni is thrilled with her new job and counts herself lucky that she was successful in the series of interviews and auditions. Before starting the job she was sent shopping with a stylist and had a makeover in preparation for the show.
As one of the presenters Anni is able to practice her creative flair by writing her scripts for the programme. Anni says “I feel I have a responsibility as the job means I have a significant influence on children. I hope I can use my degree in Welsh and transfer correct but natural Welsh to the children, and that they in turn are able to appreciate the wealth of their own Welsh and the Welsh that is within their reach”.
