John Caulfield joins the School

John Caulfield, who is originally from Wexford in Ireland, has joined the School of Welsh as a PhD student. He graduated in Communications Studies from Dublin City University and gained a masters degree in Advertising from the Dublin Institute of Technology before moving on to a career in the media in Ireland and then in England.
John’s PhD is on the Irish Language (Language Planning/Sociolinguistics); in particular, he has an interest in how the internet can be harnessed to create minority language communities. The PhD is funded by the Irish government. As part of the funding he will teach a Beginner's Irish module in the School to help promote Irish language and culture in the Cardiff University.
