June saw the first performance ever of the School’s Drama Company, under the directorship of Ceri Elen, our Creative Writing Tutor. The event was held in the School itself as innovative use was made of the long corridor and seminar room 1.69! Nine of the School’s students perfomed scenes from six plays including Miss Julie, Waiting for Godot and Bobi a Sami. The aim was to raise questions regarding the relationship between reality and naturalism, and absurdity, a theme discussed by Ceri with the undergraduate students this year in her module ‘Contemporary Welsh Drama.’ The evening was a great success and the performance of a very high standard. ‘I have not seen better on the national stage’ was one comment from the audience.
