Dr Diarmait Mac Giolla Chriost

In November, Dr Diarmait Mac Giolla Chríost will be in Australia as Visiting Scholar at the Department of Linguistics, the University of Sydney and at the School of Languages and Linguistics, the University of Melbourne.

He will be pursuing research in eco-linguistics and the rhetoric of sustainable, global linguistic diversity.

During his visit he will also be giving invited lectures in Sydney on 'The Welsh Language and Television Production: Linguistic Behaviour and Economic Activity' (an area of research of one of his PhD students, Caroline Walters, sponsored by the Welsh Language Board); and in Melbourne on 'The Irish Language and Symbolic Power: the Long War in the North of Ireland, Irish Republican Prisoners and the Jailtacht'.
