Entry Requirements for Taught Degree Schemes
- Normally, applicants should have at least a 2:1 in a relevant subject. We will also consider applications from non-graduates, depending on experience or other qualifications.
- All applicants will be invited to an interview in the School.
- Applicants wishing to study through the medium of Welsh, and who have not graduated in Welsh, will have to satisfy the School as to the standard of their written and oral Welsh.
- The School of Welsh also welcomes applications from overseas or non-Welsh speaking students who wish to study for their Masters, MPhil or PhD degree through the medium of English. Current, or recent, postgraduate students at the School have come from as far afield as Algeria, Patagonia, Catalonia, China, Ireland and the USA. If English is not your first language you will be required to demonstrate oral and written fluency before being accepted onto the MA, MPhil or PhD Programme. A minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS) is required. Note that we consider all other country-specific qualifications on their own merit.
